Summary

Lenovo’s Yoga Slim 7i Ultra Aura packs flagship Intel power into a stunning 2.2 lb design, with a soft, premium feel and a gorgeous 2.8K OLED display.

Look & Feel: Super Premium and Lightweight

This is a completely new thin and light laptop from Lenovo that looks stunning and should tick a lot of boxes for most people. It weighs only 2.15 pounds, which is insanely light for a 14 inch laptop. This is made possible by its magnesium aluminum alloy chassis. Now, you may think that because of how light it is it's flimsy but it isn’t. Something else we noticed immediately is the soft touch coating that covers the whole chassis. Not only is it velvety smooth, it also makes it feel very premium. We think a lot of people are going to see this on the shelves of Best Buy and just snap one up. It’s rare you see a laptop that’s so pretty, so light weight, and that feels so good to hold. Our main nit with it is that its keyboard back light is a light color, that may blend in with the light-colored keyboard deck on the white one. The other two colors, Mystic Violet and Cosmic Blue, don't seem to have this issue as they have dark-colored keycaps.

Display: Bright & Beautiful

The Ultra has a gorgeous display. It’s a bright, high resolution, variable refresh rate P-OLED panel up to 120Hz. It has minimal bezels making the laptop really compact and tiny too. The screen has a resolution of 2.8k so content is going to look super sharp at only 14".

Usability: Comfortable & Responsive

The Ultra will come with a responsive haptic touchpad and Lenovo's signature comfortable keyboard with 1.5mm of key travel. We found it very nice to navigate and type on.

Performance: Intel's Newest CPU Options

Another cool thing about this laptop is that most thin and lights compromise on performance. Not here. This laptop is powered by one of Intel’s highest end Panther Lake chips right up to the Core Ultra X9 388H. These are also called Core Ultra Series 3. The highest SKU is a 16-core CPU with a 12-core Xe3 GPU that is supposed to rival a low wattage 4050 in terms of graphics performance. Lenovo even feeds it 40W out of the maximum 45W, which is high for a thin and light laptop. In the limited testing we've been allowed to do so far, we've seen around 80-90 FPS in more demanding titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and Forza Horizon 5 at medium or high settings, respectively. That's on the IdeaPad Pro 5i which is fed full wattage, but we don't expect the Ultra to dip below 60.

According to Lenovo to keep the processor cool, it has implemented an improved cooling solution that includes using a phase change thermal compound. We’ll obviously have to test this when we get one in for review. So, get subscribed to our YouTube channel for that with the notification bell on to be the first to know. We will post a review article around the same time.
