Pros

AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D processor is fantastic

Excellent GPU performance due to high wattage

While gaming doesn't get overly warm or hot

Upgradeable memory

Cons

Thick laptop

Slippery palm rest material

Expensive when not on sale

Blows warm air on the back left and right of the laptop

The Strix G16 is a high performance mid tier gaming laptop. If you are looking for max performance from a gaming laptop around $2,000 USD, this should be on your list

It has AMD's highest end Ryzen 9 9955HX3D processor. This CPU is one of if not the best CPU available in a Windows laptop as of 2025. It's GPU is also fed max power so it performs exceptionally well. The model we tested with a 5070 Ti performed better than several 5080 laptops we've tested.

However the laptop isn't perfect. Its expensive when not on sale. It is a thick laptop that comes up reasonably high off the desk. Its palm rest is slippery and rejects sweat. It's ports are far down the laptop, and it exhausts some heat on the back left and right side. If you use your mouse far back, you may feel warm air being blown on you.

We feel if you want huge performance. This is a good laptop but you may want to look at the alternatives linked below too.
